Clever Cub Childcare was founded by Nasrin and Sayna, two proud mothers inspired by the same vision and philosophy. Clever Cub is a licensed group childcare facility with an Infant & Toddler Program, Preschool Aged Program, a and Drop-in Learning Centre.
Nasrin is the mother of two boys and has spent her whole life working with children. Nasrin has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Tabriz, and a bachelor’s degree in Demography from the University of Montreal.
After completing her teaching certificate, she worked 12 years as a high school teacher in Iran, and 3 years as the principal of the same school. She moved to Canada in 1990, learning both French and English. Nasrin has over 19 years of experience working as a qualified early childhood educator with both Infant & toddler children, and preschool aged kids.
She has worked in various facilities, and gained supervisory experience, working as a supervisor, and program manager for over a dozen years. In 2011, Nasrin opened her own facility, North Vancouver child Development Centre, in Blueridge, North Vancouver.
Sayna is a wife and mom, and she holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Dalhousie University. She moved to Canada as a teenager all by herself and lived in Halifax and Toronto before moving to Vancouver.
She has gained experience working in childcare and has gotten her Early Childhood Education Certificate, which enabled her to develop a creative vision combining her hands-on experience with modern education.
She is deeply in touch with nature and is a strong believer in the positive effects of nature on child’s cognitive functioning, motor coordination, and social skills. Sayna’s goal is to create a safe, stimulating age appropriate environment for kids in her learning centre to allow them to grow into their full potential.
We believe that a child development center must enhance the lives of children, their families, and the community through the provision of a nurturing, supportive and valuable community service
Parents and families deserve the assurance of quality care for their children.
Clever Cub will inform the parents of the child’s activities and welcome the parents to discuss with us their child’s overall development
Staff are entitled to a working environment which recognizes and respects their training, skills, and commitment to childcare and which demonstrates this through respectful communication and policies.
Our philosophy is focused on learning-through-play, inspired by three of the leading educational philosophies in the field of early childhood education, Reggio Emilia, Waldorf, and Montessori. We believe play is essential to young children's learning. We acknowledge and support children's interests and strengths to enhance and facilitate their learning process. We believe all children need opportunities to discover, solve problems, and learn about themselves, other people, and the world around themselves.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, our teachers observe what children are interested in and provide them the freedom and guidance to help them develop and act on their curiosity, giving our students a sense of autonomy and love of learning.
The Waldorf approach emphasizes the importance of a natural environment, and the importance of holistic teaching. Providing gentle, yet sensory rich environments and play-based activities that encourage the young child to investigate the natural world.
The Montessori approach recognizes the importance of hands-on learning, daily routines and building towards goals. We integrate this in our learning-through-play approach, for instance, using arts and crafts to teach kids how to count and help them develop their language skills. For children approaching kindergarten age, we integrate pre-reading and pre-writing, familiarizing children with the cycle of schoolwork.
We are dedicated to providing the highest quality of care to children from a variety of abilities, cultures, backgrounds, and communities.
